A family-run North Yorkshire fish and chip business is investing £500,000 in a new processing facility to streamline its operation across the East Coast.

Fusco’s of Whitby is building the two-storey unit at Whitby Business Park after securing planning permission from North York Moors National Park Authority.

The facility will be used for the preparation and processing of fish and potatoes as well as providing Fusco’s with offices and storage space.

Fusco’s of Whitby owns the Quayside restaurant in the town as well as Royal Fisheries. It also runs two Fish Box takeaway shops – in Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay – and operates The Whitby Fish and Chips Catering Trailer.

Adrian Fusco, commercial director at Fusco’s, said: “By streamlining our back-of- house facilities, we will be able to better organise our stock, processing and preparation and be more efficient in catering for our shops and restaurants.

“The new unit will also facilitate any future growth of the business.”

The business was advised on the acquisition of the site for the new processing facility by York-based Langleys Solicitors.

Emma Warner, partner in commercial property at Langleys Solicitors, said: “Fusco’s is a well-established and successful Yorkshire business. We are very pleased to support the Fusco family as they continue to seek expansion on the East Coast.”
