Shopping centre spices up food offering with latest addition

White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds has added to its food line-up with the signing of Mexican street food chain El Mexicana.

The new addition has been announced during a pivotal time for White Rose which unveiled a 65,000 sq ft leisure extension The Village in July.

The unit marks the second location for the chain in the North of England, following successful growth in southern regions.

El Mexicana occupies 565 sq ft of White Rose’s food and beverage space called The Balcony and is the first Mexican eatery to open within the centre.

Landsec, which owns and operates White Rose, has been working to enhance its offering and bolster its position as one of the region’s dominant leisure and dining choices for a range of audiences.

Rob Jewell, portfolio director, retail, Landsec, said: “We are delighted to announce the opening of El Mexicana, which will complement our existing mix of restaurants and give our customers an even greater choice of exciting dining experiences.”

Paul Stagg, head of property, El Mexicana, added: “Our mix of fresh, modern, great value Mexican food has been a real hit with customers elsewhere. Opening at White Rose means expanding our portfolio of UK restaurants in prime locations, especially considering the shopping centre’s exceptional new leisure extension and strong footfall and performance figures. We’re excited to be a part of this landmark time for the centre and to bring our food to a new audience.”
