International manufacturing consultancy picks AMP for expansion

An international consultancy headquartered in Wales, which specialises in delivering business support, training and consultancy for the manufacturing industry, has launched an office at Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Park.

Probe RTS, which works with manufacturing businesses in the automotive, medical, electronics, white goods, motorsport, packaging and food and drink sectors, will be based in the AMRC Technology Centre.

Established in South Wales in 2005, Probe provides consultancy, training and the provision of third party process and quality engineering support nationally and internationally.

It currently has offices in the Sony UK Technology Centre in Bridgend, Fletcher Gate in Nottingham and associate offices in Mainland Europe and South East Asia.

Probe is also looking to strengthen its team through a network of business advisory and specialist lean manufacturing associates.

Director Philip Roberts said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for the business. The reputation of the AMRC and the AMP is sky-rocketing and to be situated in the heart of it is great for Probe. This gives us a great platform to sell our services and introduce our POET software into businesses where it can make a real difference.

The University of Sheffield’s AMRC was established in 2001 as a £15m collaboration between the University of Sheffield and aerospace giant Boeing.

As well as its partnership with Boeing, industrial membership also includes Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and Messier-Dowty, plus 60 other organisations.

It is also the site of the AMRC’s Factory 2050 and the Rolls Royce “Factory of the Future”. From 2018 it will be the location where McLaren will build its advanced carbon fibre chassis for its super cars.
