Where do you live / where are you from?
I was born in Sheffield and while I grew up in Nottinghamshire, I was keen to return to the steel city as a student. Since then, I have always loved being in Yorkshire. For a good few years I commuted to Sheffield from the outskirts of Wakefield but now live in Rawdon. I love having Leeds on the doorstep while still having a thriving community and countryside nearby to explore.

What is your favourite place to visit and why?
As a dog walker with a very energetic springer-doodle, I love to explore the Yorkshire Dales. Heading out to the Dales offers fantastic scenery and a chance to unwind completely.

What is still on your to do list in the region?
For some time, I have wanted to head to Go Ape in Dalby Forest. I enjoy trying new activities and I especially love heights, so I need to make time to book myself in.

What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had in Yorkshire?
Norse in Harrogate, which has a Nordic influence, has to be a firm favourite for me. I went there for the first time a couple of years ago and was impressed by their tasting menu with wine pairing. The staff there know their dishes inside out and it’s a great dining experience in a relaxed environment.

What is your most Yorkshire trait?
Probably my friendliness and ability to talk to anyone, wherever I am in the world.

Favourite piece of trivia about the region?
I love to  watch a wide range of sporting events and was especially proud of the number of Olympic medals Yorkshire athletes bought back to the county from Rio 2016 and London 2012. It’s amazing to think that as a county, Yorkshire would have been ahead of countries including Canada and South Africa for the total medal count from Rio.

What is your favourite cultural icon from the region?
Being from Sheffield, it has to be Henderson’s Relish – something that completes a Sunday roast in my house.

What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire if you could?
My mum is originally from Lancashire and as such I have spent the majority of my life claiming there couldn’t possibly be anything to steal! Although I do like a proper Lancashire hotpot…

What’s the worst experience, or the worst thing about Yorkshire?
Sometimes we can undersell the region. We have a lot of positive things to shout about across the whole of Yorkshire. That said, I think there has been a step-change recently with a collaborative approach to boasting about the many highlights the region has.
