People: Triple hire for law firm; Colliers expands team; and more

Kelly Kirby, Deepika Raino and Hannah Beddis

Law firm Weightmans has welcomed a trio of associates to its Leeds office.

Hannah Beddis, Kelly Kirby and Deepika Raino joined the firm’s Westgate Point office as the firm marks two years since it joined the Leeds legal scene following its merger with Ford & Warren in 2015.

Beddis joins Weightmans’ Local Government team to enhance and expand the public sector offering in Yorkshire and the North East. Moving from BLM, where she was head of the public sector team in Leeds, she has extensive experience of handling litigated personal injury claims with a strong focus on public sector clients, working primarily for local authorities and insurers. She handles claims across the wide spectrum of local authority risk, provides bespoke training sessions for clients and is a regular speaker at external events such as ALARM and IOG meetings.

Kirby has over 14 years’ property litigation experience, practising in Leeds for the majority of her career. She deals with all contentious aspects of commercial, residential and agricultural property matters. She joins Weightmans from Langley’s where she grew her contentious agricultural practice, before returning to Leeds to focus on commercial matters.

Raino qualified in 2001 and has joined Weightmans as an associate, working within the regulatory/professional discipline team in Leeds. She has acted in numerous professional regulatory proceedings in front of the General Medical Council and General Dental Council in a wide range of personal, professional, and health misconduct matters. She also has in-depth knowledge of the data protection act and has advised on many cases involving third party requests for data and on data protection rights.

David Lewis, partner and head of the Leeds office, said: “To make three significant appointments in such a short space of time is a real testament to the momentum behind the firm’s Yorkshire offering and our commitment to the local business community. Hannah, Kelly and Deepika bring almost 50 years’ combined experience, knowledge and new ideas to the firm, and both I and their respective teams are delighted to be working with them.”
