Long live cask – Yorkshire brewery urges publicans to support the growth of cask beer

Yorkshire-based Little Valley Brewery has urged pubs and bars to ensure their teams are properly trained to encourage the continued growth of the cask beer market.

The call from Little Valley Brewery comes as Cask Ale Week gets underway which runs until October 1 and sees breweries and operators alike celebrate quality cask beer with festivals, promotions and events.

Sue Cooper, co-owner at Little Valley Brewery, says: “For some time now, cask ale has been making its way out of the shadows and it’s great to see that it has cemented its place within the craft beer scene.

“That’s not to say that keg beers are inferior in any way, there are some amazing beers on both sides of the fence, however cask has had to work much harder to shake off its sometimes negative reputation. It’s so important that publicans and bar owners train their staff in the right ways to store and serve cask beer, or else a great beer can soon be ruined.”
