People: Fifteen trainees join Grant Thornton; Law firm welcomes new director; and more

Business advisory firm Grant Thornton has welcomed 15 graduates and four A-level school leavers who are joining teams across the board in tax, audit and advisory.

Joining Grant Thornton’s Yorkshire team are Thomas Cudmore; Lewis Currie; Thomas Oates; Blake Wood; Hamid Arezoo; Lee Baines; Elliot Barron; Ben Burridge; Jeffrey Eves; Reuben Hainsworth; Will Hannon; Jill Onamusi; Catherine Pearson; Logan Daniels; Hazel Makwabarara; Christodoulos Skouroumounis, Jessica Jackson, Emily Pooley, Dan Thomas and Laura Betchette.

Langleys Solicitors has appointed business development director Dave Clarkson as it looks to enter the UK’s top 100 law firms.

Clarkson joins York and Lincoln based Langleys from accountancy firm Armstrong Watson where he held a similar position for seven years.

Langleys employs more than 340 people at its offices in York and Lincoln. It has a turnover in excess of £20m and continues to see organic growth in revenue.

Clarkson’s appointment underpins its ambition to break into the Top 100 legal businesses in the UK.

Clarkson has more than 20 years’ experience in advertising and marketing, developing national and regional campaigns, before he moved into corporate professional services.

He said: “My role is to articulate the quality, knowledge and experience of Langleys to a wider audience as part of the firm’s business growth strategy and ambition to break through the Top 100.”

Wakefield-based C2events has welcome two new members of staff.

Jessica Hebden has joined as project executive and Haley Robinson has been recruited as project co-ordinator.

Mark Saxby, executive director, said: “We have continued to grow the business following the acquisition of Five Hats International which has resulted in the need to add further to our team with two additional appointments.”
