Logistics firm lands ASOS deal

Leeds-based retail specialist Clipper Logistics has won a new contract with ASOS to handle European returns from its multi-user site in Poland.

Under the contract, which is for an initial three year term, 350 jobs will be created at the Poznan site, which currently services the Westwing business.

Steve Parkin, executive chairman of Clipper, said: “This new contract represents a major achievement in the delivery of our European expansion strategy.

“The group remains focussed on winning new contracts with both new and existing customers, in both the UK and Europe, and we hope to update the market with further wins in the coming weeks.”

It has been a successful year for Clipper, which also entered into a high profile joint venture with John Lewis called Clicklink Logistics, as well as signing new contracts with Halfords, Inditex and Links of London.

Sales for the group increased by 17.2% from £290.3m to £340.1m for the year to 30 April 2017.

Pre-tax profits for the year increased to £16m from £13.1m the year before.
