Job cuts at Yorkshire Bank HQ

A redundancy programme at Yorkshire Bank is expected to see jobs being cut at the Leeds head office on Merrion Way.

The city centre office is part of the operational division of the business, which is currently under national review. The bank is part of the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banking Group.

TheBusinessDesk.com has approached Yorkshire Bank for a comment. It is understood that around 70 staff were made aware of the latest round of redundancies this week.

The company is targeting more than £100m of sustainable cost reductions by 2019.

Earlier this year TheBusinessDesk.com reported that hundreds of jobs were in danger as it looked to close 79 branches across its network.

This included closures at Bradford West Bowling, Filey, Goole, Hull Hessle Road, Knottingley, Leeds branches at Central, Chapel Allerton, Headingley and Woodsley Road, Normanton, Osset, Ripon, Sheffield Broomhill and Firth Park and Todmorden.

The bank said it was part of a reduction in its branch network that it announced as part of turnaround plans last year.
