Residential plans for Kirkstall Forge receive approval

The residential phase of the Kirkstall Forge development has moved ahead, with developers CEG receiving planning permission for 112 homes and 23,000 sq ft of retail, leisure and community space.

 

It is the latest phase of the Kirkstall Forge master plan, which aims to develop a new community in the area, following the opening of its rail station last year. The residential section of the site will be across a spilt levels and  will include 3,4 and 5 bedroom houses, as well as apartments.

Practical completion has now been achieved on No. 1 Kirkstall Forge, an 110,000 sq ft, seven-storey Grade A office building, which is already 70% let.

The full plans comprise 1,050 new homes, 300,000 sq ft of offices and 100,000 sq ftof retail, leisure and community space. Once complete, it is predicted that more than 10,000 people will live, work and visit the site.

 

Jon Kenny from CEG said: “We are incredibly excited about the planning permission being granted to bring forward housing for Kirkstall Forge. This is designed to be a community where people work and people live. We just need to resolve development finance for that area of the site and as soon as that happens we will look to start.”

Kirkstall Forge is one of the oldest industrial sites in the country, with an 800 year history.
