Jobs created by £4m investment in vehicle site

Hartshorne Group's Volvo commercial vehicle site in Erdington

A depot which has created an additional 15 jobs has opened after an eight-month development.

Volvo commercial dealer Hartshorne Group invested £4m in the site in Erdington, West Midlands, to replace its former home at Gravelly Industrial Park. The operation has increased from 20 staff to 35 staff.

The work was delivered by Knight Frank’s Sheffield office, which managed the planning and delivery of the commercial vehicle servicing and MOT testing depot.

Hartshorne’s managing director Martin Cronin said: “Our new depot is built to very exacting specifications and has been designed from scratch in order to offer maximum convenience and vehicle uptime.”

Halesowen-based A&H Construction and Development were the appointed building contractors for the project, which took eight months to complete.

Daniel Green, partner at Knight Frank, said: “The depot has been built to exacting specifications to meet the requirements of both Hartshorne Group and the Department of Transport.

“Knight Frank’s Building consultancy team were appointed to design and project manage the scheme from inception through to completion including initial advice during the land acquisition and involving our expert planning team.”

The team at Knight Frank is currently working on projects across the north and Midlands, including managing the fit-out of a 14,000 sq ft headquarters for Tuffnells Parcels Express at Meadowhall Business Park in Sheffield.
