Where do you live/where are you from?
I have lived in Yorkshire all my life, growing up with my family in Honley, near Holmfirth. Now I live just five minutes down the road in Netherton. We are really lucky to be on the doorstep of the Peak District which is filled with beautiful places to explore.
What is your favourite place to visit in Yorkshire and why?
My favourite weekend escape in Yorkshire has to be Bolton Abbey. There are so many routes along the riverside paths, in the woodland and the moors, meaning you can do as much or as little walking as you want. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink, which is always a bonus!
What is still on your “to do” list in the region?
I want to take on The Yorkshire Three Peaks — I love setting myself a challenge
What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had in Yorkshire?
I love a good Sunday roast with all my family, but I’m yet to find a stand-out traditional pub that does it really well.
What is your most Yorkshire trait?
Yorkshire people are known for being friendly, yet honest and straight-talking, and I think that’s how people would describe me!
Favourite piece of trivia about the region?
Yorkshire is made up of 2.9 million acres, making it the largest county in the UK.
What is your favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire?
Being from Holmfirth, I’d have to say Last of the Summer Wine. I used to see them filming in the village when I was young!
Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?
We have some pretty bad potholes on our roads, and sometimes I wish we didn’t have so many hills — it makes running really difficult! Plus if our weather was brighter, or even just a little more predictable, I think that would make Yorkshire perfect.
What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire (or other UK regions) if you could?
I would take some of Manchester’s great venues, music events and restaurants, there’s always so much going on!
What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?
Yorkshire Tea! I’m a coffee drinker, every time.
