Deloitte Real Estate’s Northern team has announced promotions across its planning, capital advisory, and valuation teams following a strong year in which the firm has helped deliver multi-million pound projects.

The Leeds team at Deloitte Real Estate promoted Pete Gleave to assistant director after leading on a number of planning applications including the St Albans development by Vita Student, which is set to deliver 376 student apartments in Leeds city centre, and the 14-storey Hampton by Hilton Hotel on Bridge Street.

The planning team has also announced the promotion of Ellen Sanderson-Clark to senior planner following her work on key projects throughout Yorkshire and the North West. Sanderson-Clark also provides planning advice to Land Securities on their ongoing asset management of Trinity Leeds Shopping Centre.

She has also worked on the regeneration of Circle Square by Bruntwood and Select Property in Manchester.

Peter Wilkinson, head of Deloitte real estate in the Regions, said: “It has been a brilliant period of activity for Deloitte Real Estate, in which we have helped to deliver some of the most significant schemes in the pipeline across the North.

“Our team’s technical and strategic expertise is unparalleled, and so it is with great pride that we announce these promotions in recognition of our commitment to providing an outstanding service to our clients and the wider region.”

Law firm Andrew Jackson Solicitors’ private client practice has been boosted with the appointment of a specialist family lawyer.

Debbie Gibbons brings over a decade of family experience to the firm and particular expertise in helping couples to resolve financial issues following separation and divorce.

“Debbie’s appointment comes as we continue to grow the bespoke legal services that we offer to our private clients, and follows the recent appointments of four other private client lawyers to our rapidly expanding team. Debbie will be an excellent addition,” said Richard Hoare, partner and head of private client services at Andrew Jackson.

Counter Context has boosted its team of communications, engagement and politics specialists this autumn, appointing three graduates.

The Sheffield-based communications and public affairs company welcomed new account executives, James Senior and Matthew Addy in September.

They were joined last month by a third account executive, Christof Turzynski, who had previously been on a work placement at the city council’s economic development agency, Creative Sheffield.

Both Turzynski and Addy have recently completed Masters degrees in International Business at the University of Sheffield and International Relations at the University of Nottingham, respectively.

Senior, who studied History and Political Science at Trinity College Dublin, brings a specialist understanding of sustainability and environmental issues, having lobbied his own university to divest its fossil fuel investments.

He will be using this knowledge and experience to support the range of renewable energy developments in Counter Context’s portfolio, including solar farms and offshore wind farm developments.

Account director Harriet Knowles said: “We are delighted to welcome Matthew, James and Christof to Counter Context. As the only company born and bred in Sheffield with our specialism and levels of expertise, we think it’s important to attract and maintain talented people in our city. Our trio of new recruits are politically astute and understand why this is so important in the world we live in today. From Brexit, to devolution, to climate change, our job is to understand and contextualise these movements for our clients to help them achieve project success.

“The appointments come at a very exciting time. We have recently secured several new contracts across the renewable energy, education and transport sectors and we can’t wait to see our new account executives get stuck into these projects, bringing a huge amount of knowledge and insight to our clients.”
