People: Host of hires for law firm; Accountancy practice adds to team; and more

Katie Ward, Frances Maxwell, Dorothy Price, Elizabeth Whitaker and Jack Stainthorpe

Newtons Solicitors has announced a series of appointments.

The firm has welcomed Dorothy Price and Jack Stainthorpe to its residential cpnveyancing team and Katie Ward and Elizabeth Whitaker to the wills trusts and Probate department.

The new team members will work across Newtons offices in Thirsk, Richmond and Northallerton.

The latest recruitment drive from Newtons Solicitors has also seen two internal moves.

Frances Maxwell, a senior private client solicitor, has moved from Leyburn to Northallerton to manage the team.

Estella Pengilley, a senior solicitor and an expert in dispute resolution, will also now be based in Northallerton, working with the litigation team.

David Birks, director at Newtons Solicitors, says: “We’ve had some great lawyers join our team recently with more due to arrive.  Our Northallerton office seemed huge when we first moved into it, so we’re obviously delighted at how it is filling up.”

Newtons has seen considerable growth since moving into its new office in Northallerton, which was previously occupied by Armstrong Watson Accountants. The team continues to serve clients that it previously worked for from its Leyburn office.

“We were sorry to see the closure of our office in Leyburn however it just wasn’t commercially viable following the closure of the Skipton Building Society Agency at our office,” says Chris Newton, managing director at Newtons Solicitors. “We continue to support our Leyburn clients from our offices in Northallerton and Richmond, both of which offer a full legal service from larger teams.

“Our new appointments, internal moves and our continued significant growth means we can further expand and consolidate the services we can offer to our clients and engage and invest in the local area.”
