Global research company signs for Sheffield Digital Campus

The second floor at Acero, the new office development at Sheffield Digital Campus, has been let to a research company which provides modelling and simulation software to the pharmaceutical industry.

Scarborough International Properties and its joint venture partner Metro Holdings of Singapore (Metro) have agreed a 10-year lease of 13,946 sq ft of space at a rent of £24.50 per sq ft with Simcyp, setting a new headline rent for the city.

Simcyp is part of Certara, a global leader in model-informed drug development and regulatory science.

Based in Sheffield city centre, Acero is one of the highest specification offices in the region, offering 80,599 sq ft flexible office accommodation over six floors.

The office building is the latest addition to the Sheffield DC development and has been privately funded in a 50:50 joint venture between Scarborough and Metro. Following this deal 75% of the high-spec office building is now under offer with further deals soon to be announced.

Joint agents Commercial Property Partners, Colloco and Knight Frank acted for Scarborough, Simcyp was unrepresented.

Paul Holcroft of Scarborough International Properties, said: “We are pleased to welcome Simcyp to Acero. This deal highlights what Sheffield has to offer home-grown and international organisations as one of the major regional cities in the Northern Powerhouse. We look forward to announcing further tenants in due course.”

Steve Toon, managing director of Simcyp, said: “We are delighted to be part of the Sheffield Digital Campus. It is the beginning of a process that will see our colleagues come together in a state-of-the art office building which has great access to public transport. Moving to Acero will enable closer working relationships and allow Simcyp to continue to be an important contributor to the region.”
