Bond Court lights up for Christmas

Christmas is coming to Bond Court in Leeds as the city centre square takes on a festive feel.

An evening of illumination and animation is taking place on Wednesday December 13 from 5-7pm, aiming to help spread some festive cheer to businesses in the vicinity as well as shoppers and commuters passing through.

‘Bond Court Illuminations’ will transform number 2 Bond Court with winter themed light projections, produced by students of Leeds Arts University in conjunction with Lumen, the artistic audiovisual collective based in Leeds, beamed onto the building.

Hyde Park Brass will be providing the entertainment, bringing their own combination of New Orleans jazz, hip-hop and pop to some festive favourites and Christmas themed refreshments will be available to purchase from La Bottega Milanese and The Blackhouse Grill.

The event is part of a winter programme of events Christmas in Leeds – Leeds Winter Moments organised and delivered by Leeds Business Improvement District (LeedsBID), in conjunction with key businesses and organisations across the city.

It follows the success of the Wimbledon fortnight held in July, which saw a big screen and deckchairs, provided by LeedsBID, take up residence in the square for employees in the area to enjoy all the action of the annual sporting event.

Andrew Cooper, chief executive of LeedsBID, said: “Christmas in Leeds is about helping to spread festive cheer throughout the city centre and creating special moments for those living, working and visiting here.

Following the great feedback to our ‘Summer in The City’ event hosted in Bond Court in July, it was important to continue working in collaboration with businesses in the vicinity to support and strengthen that sense of community in the West End of the city.

Bond Court Illuminations will be a combination of music, arts, food and drink and we hope as many people can join us to get in the festive spirit.”
