People: Trio of senior hires for Freeths; Growth continues for logistics specialist

Freeths has seen significant growth in its Yorkshire offices with the appointment of three senior members of staff.

Andy Francey recently joined the Leeds office as a partner in the corporate team. Francey advises on the full spectrum of corporate matters as well as advising on banking transactions, advising both borrowers and lenders on facilities and security matters.

Joining Francey in Leeds is Nigel Bolton, a partner in the firm’s pensions department. Bolton joins from Irwin Mitchell and heads up the pensions team in the Leeds office. His experience includes advising employers of all size and IFAs.

In Sheffield, Mark Gudgeon has joined the dispute resolution team.

Leeds-based transport and third-party logistics specialist Walkers Transport has appointed a group sales manager as part of its rapidly expanding senior team.

Victoria Reynard joins the company from Portakabin Hire in Leeds where she was area hire manager. She brings a wealth of sales and customer service-related experience to Walkers having worked in the industry since 1999 at companies including TNT and UK Mail.

As part of her role she will recruit, train and develop the growing sales team in order to win new customers and retain existing ones to ensure revenue and retention targets are met.

“It’s great to be a in at the start of what is a significant growth initiative and the recent MBO just emphasises the ambition of the company.  I’m really looking forward to having the chance to play a key role in developing the sales strategy to make sure that Walkers ambitious plans are realised.”

Elland-based power engineering firm Smith Brothers has recruited a a new tendering engineer as it prepares for further growth in 2018.

Marc Hildreth joins the high voltage experts from Schneider Electric, bringing 12 years of electrical engineering experience to the five-strong tendering team.

Tendering manager Clive Naylor said: “The wide array of sectors we operate in – not to mention the huge range services we provide, from small works to turnkey packages – makes this a particularly fast-paced role, and we needed someone with a strong track record and a lot of energy to fill it.

“Having previously worked across a number of different departments – including customer services, contracts and projects – Marc’s wide-ranging expertise makes him a great fit for the position, and we’re confident he’ll play a big part in the team as we look to further our lead conversions into 2018.”

With a strong forward order book and £40m turnover projected for the coming year, Smith Brothers’ recruitment drive is set to continue, the company said.
