String of lettings reflect demand for small business units

Property specialist PPH Commercial has reported an increased demand for small units in Hull after it recently let four on the South Orbital Trading Estate within two weeks.

Ben Cooper, PPH divisional director, said: “There is pent up demand for small units due to the lack of new units being built and due to this type of property having a rateable value of £12,000 or less, making them exempt from business rates for many occupiers under the small business rates relief scheme. The units are in demand from both start up operations and small companies looking to expand.”

Makson Building Services was one of the companies to recently become tenants at the South Orbital Trading Estate. It is occupying a unit that provides 1,244 sq ft space on the ground floor with mezzanine above.

“As well as good storage space and a mezzanine floor, the unit has four offices and an area that we can use as a dedicated client suite where we can display new product samples,” said Makson director Kyle Acheson.
