Second John Lewis opening for Filmore & Union

Yorkshire food and drink chain Filmore & Union is to open on the first floor of John Lewis Newcastle later this month.

With 120 covers and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this will be the company’s largest restaurant yet and the second in within a John Lewis store following the opening of the John Lewis York restaurant in June 2017.

Filmore & Union now has 16 restaurants and take out delis across Yorkshire and the North East including in Newcastle Central Train Station and Jesmond.

Filmore & Union founder and owner Adele Ashley says: “This new addition to our portfolio in the North East means we now have a train station deli, a small suburban day time eatery in Jesmond, and a bigger restaurant in the heart of the city’s shopping and nightlife district. This is similar to the way in which we’ve grown in Yorkshire, building a regional chain which retains its independent feel with a strong local supply chain.

“ Our chilled out relaxed atmosphere with premium, cosy interiors and high quality food fits perfectly within the John Lewis brand and we can’t wait to see what new customers think.”

Karen Matthew, head of branch at John Lewis Newcastle, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Filmore & Union into our shop and to be part of their expansion. We are sure our customers will love their fresh and wholesome food and we are delighted to be able to offer our customers another option to refuel and refresh in addition to our Place to Eat.”
