Leeds 10k Clarion corporate challenge set to return

Companies across the city and beyond are getting ready to broker a place in the fastest firm league tables.

Hundreds of businessmen and women will pull on their trainers when the Leeds 10K Clarion Corporate Challenge returns on Sunday 8 July.

A race within a race, the challenge has grown into a popular feature of the Asda Foundation Leeds 10K, staged by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All.

The challenge is open to teams of at least five members – there is no upper limit – with the times of the first three runners home used to calculate the winners.

Roger Hutton, joint managing partner at Clarion, which has sponsored the challenge since 2007, said: “We can’t wait for the return of the Leeds 10K Clarion Corporate Challenge this summer and are looking forward to getting our running shoes on!”

“We’re incredibly proud to have been involved in this hugely-popular event from the very start and are excited to welcome teams old and new in 2018!”

Leeds’s Enterprise Rent-A-Car are the team to beat in 2017 – their top three runners clocked an impressive average time of 39mins 6secs in last year’s event. RSM was second with a time of 40mins 1sec and Sagars Accountants Ltd were third in 40mins 41secs.

There are also prizes for individual corporate runners. In 2017, Jonathan Ball from Enterprise picked up the fastest male title in a time of 35mins 50secs and Nik Tarrega from Sagars’ was the quickest woman in 39mins 52secs.

Hettie Barker, sponsorship and corporate executive, at event organiser Run For All, said: “The Corporate Challenge is an fantastic feature of the 10K. The many companies who take part really enjoy the competition and the friendly rivalry it generates.”

The Leeds 10K is supported by TheBusinessDesk.com, Asda Foundation, Leeds City Council, Clarion, Yorkshire Evening Post, Heart, Arla Protein, Up&Running, BananaKick and LTS.
