Planning secured for North Yorkshire housing development

Outline planning permission, subject to a S106, has been secured to build 140 homes in Skipton in a scheme that will include 30% affordable properties, cycle and pedestrian links and public open space.

The plans, on fields off Knaresborough Road stretching down to Otley Road, were approved without objections and planning officers at Craven District Council now have delegated powers to secure the S106.

Pegasus Group, on behalf of a private landowner, liaised with planning officers to deliver a scheme.

Chris Calvert, executive director at Pegasus Group’s Leeds office, said: “We have been working on this site since early 2016, when the local council were looking at a Pool of Sites for their emerging Local Plan.

“We drew up a landscape led masterplan and submitted it, along with a Promotional Document and Planning Representation in response to the Council’s consultation, acknowledging that a sensitive design would be key, given the site’s edge of settlement location.

“The site was then included as a Draft Residential Allocation on the back of our representation, so we advised our client that the time was right to submit an outline application. We managed this process on their behalf, and provided planning, heritage, economic, landscape, design and consultation services.”

Calvert said Pegasus Group is now working with the landowner and land agent to bring the site to market.

The Skipton approval is the second successful application by Pegasus Group in Craven, following outline consent obtained for land at Corner Field.
