Green light for schemes on two former reservoir sites

Keyland Developments, the property trading arm of Kelda Group and sister-company to Yorkshire Water, has secured planning consent for three separate residential developments in South Yorkshire.

Planning permission has been granted for a disused Yorkshire Water Reservoir site in Warmsworth, Doncaster to be brought back into use as a residential development of 23 two storey, semi-detached and detached homes. The reservoir structure and pumping station formerly at the 1.5 acre site has already been demolished and the land has been levelled to enable future housing development. Located to the north of Warmsworth Hall, the site is approximately 4.5km to the south-west of Doncaster town centre.

A second separate application has also been approved for the development of nine homes on a 1.5 acre open site adjacent to a Yorkshire Water reservoir in Kimberworth, Rotherham. The site is located within a suburban, residential area and planning has been approved to deliver a small housing development in-keeping with local character.

In conjunction with the 1970`s development to the west of the site, Fellowship Way, the new development will continue the residential properties to meet the reservoir to the east. This will form a natural extension to the existing development and establish a highly sustainable suburb with good links to a public transport network and local infrastructure.

The third planning consent will allow the creation of a single home from an existing agricultural building at Brooks Bank Farm in Stocksbridge. The traditional farmstead incorporates a detached farmhouse, two detached stone barns and a steel portal framed building with grassland and woodland extending in total to approximately 108 acres. The conversion will create a three-bedroom home, which includes courtyard parking plus a private garden area.

Brooks Bank Farm is in an elevated position and located on the south eastern edge of the village of Midhopestones, to the south of the Underbank Reservoir. The property is some 12 miles north west of Sheffield and 3.5 miles south of the town of Penistone, situated in a rural location.

Luke Axe, planning manager at Keyland Developments, said: “We are delighted to gain planning approval for the three South Yorkshire sites, all of which will enable the delivery of much-needed new homes to the region. The Doncaster and Rotherham residential sites will bring unused land back into use through the creation of new homes to complement their surroundings. Additionally, Brooks Bank Farm will be able to reach its full potential by capitalising on the exceptional location and extensive land to create a truly unique new home.”
