Weekender: Landmark ale house back in black as rock nights return

Bradford music fans can enjoy a blast from the past when the city’s Exchange Ale House brings back its infamous rock and metal nights.

The pub, which was reopened last year by Bradford Brewery after lying empty for four years, was well-known from the ‘70s onwards as a rock venue and the genre is being revived in response to demand.

The rock and metal nights will be every Friday, from 8pm to 11pm, with some exceptions on the last Friday of the month when live bands of various styles are booked to appear.

Rock and Metal Fridays will kick off on March 2.

The free entry sessions will feature sounds from Iron Maiden to Pantera and Ministry to Korn.

Manager Berry Jagoda said: “People love what we’ve done and we’ve already been putting on all sorts of entertainment to suit different tastes. But we’ve had lots of customers getting really nostalgic about the ‘dark days’ when they used to come here for the rock and metal back in the old days – and wishing they could relive those times.

“So from now on, Friday nights just got heavier and louder! We’ll be playing a very eclectic mix of music.”
