Weekender: £63k catering investment includes installing ‘largest indoor BBQ in Yorkshire’

Cripps & Co, the operator behind new wedding venue the Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey, has invested £63,000 into its catering offering with what is thought to be Yorkshire’s largest indoor BBQ and two handmade French rotisseries.

Costing around £13,000, the three metre long handmade BBQ can cook up to 25 whole butterflied legs of lamb or 100kg of sirloin steak in one sitting.

In addition to the BBQ, the Tithe Barn has also invested in two bespoke, handmade French rotisseries costing £25,000 each. Chefs will be able to cook up to 72 whole chickens or six suckling pigs at any one time.

The launch of The Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey, this summer, sees Cripps & Co continuing to shake up the wedding industry.

Operations manager, Will Abraham, said: “The whole concept behind the food at Cripps & Co is relaxed, informal dining. Having a formal seating arrangement for a three-course dinner is actually quite restricting and formulaic.”

The rotisseries are made by French creator, Jean Pierre, who has been making rotisseries and BBQs for generations and only crafts a handful each year. They will be lit-up behind a glass wall so wedding guests can see the feast as its being prepared for them.
