Roofing specialist expands into Yorkshire with office and warehouse launch

A North East-based roofing and cladding systems specialist Roofclad Systems is expanding into Yorkshire with the creation of a second office and warehouse in Leeds.

Since Roofclad was acquired for an undisclosed sum in 2014 by David Tilley, who is now its chairman.

The company expects turnover to exceed £6m this year and more than 50 full time staff are on its books.

With a major contract for Rosti at Stamford Bridge now complete, several roofing contracts are currently underway in the Yorkshire area where the company is on site with a project at Pasquill Roof Trusses in Rothwell, due for completion by the end of February, a contract at Lightcliffe Academy in Halifax and another at Milthorpe School in York.

The largest project currently on site is the redevelopment of the Foss Barrier in York.

Managing director Alex Tilley said: “We get a lot of enquiries from the Yorkshire area and beyond which, until now, we have serviced from our base in the North East, so it just makes sense to set up an office further south.  Our new Leeds base was previously occupied by a roofing contractor when David bought the office some years ago, so we have been waiting for the right time to bring the space back into full use.  We will have 900 sq ft of office space with an adjoining 2,500 sq ft warehouse, which will allow us to take on some big contracts.

“The office is even more conveniently located than our North East base in terms of its access to motorways, being south of Leeds and near the M62/M1 corridors – and importantly, it is also big enough to give us scope for future expansion.

“We are committed to creating new jobs – starting with a contracts manager, an office administrator/secretary and some direct operatives, which we hope to appoint in the not too distant future, depending on new projects coming in.  We will build the business steadily by meeting up with existing contacts and targeting building owners and management companies for direct contracts within the industrial and commercial sectors.”
