RSM welcomes HRH Earl of Wessex to Leeds office

Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM welcomed HRH The Earl of Wessex to its office in Leeds as it celebrated its first year in Central Square and almost 12 years of supporting The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE)

The event, at RSM’s new office on Wellington Street, was hosted by David Gwilliam, the company’s chief operating officer, and Kevin O’Connor, RSM’s regional managing partner for Yorkshire and the North East.

HRH The Earl of Wessex received a tour of the new office and witnessed the RSM team in Leeds complete its most recent DofE challenge by cycling the last mile of a 4,000-mile challenge as part of a firmwide ‘around the globe’ challenge. His Royal Highness then attended a lunch with key business figures and dignitaries from Yorkshire’s business community, before unveiling a plaque to formally open RSM’s new office in Leeds.

RSM’s sustained support over the last twelve years has helped support almost 70% more young people to start out on their DofE journey, giving them the chance to transform their lives and put them on a path to success.

Kevin O’Connor, RSM’s regional managing partner for Yorkshire and the Humber said: ‘It was fantastic to welcome HRH the Earl of Wessex to formally celebrate our move into Central Square. We are proud of our new space as its more than just an office, it reinforces our commitment to the Yorkshire region and strengthens our position as one of the leading advisers to middle market businesses across The North.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a worthwhile charity that changes lives of countless young people and we are honoured to be long-standing supporters. It was also great to reach our target of travelling 4,000 miles with the support of HRH the Earl of Wessex – a real achievement for the office.’

Peter Westgarth, Chief Executive of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award said: ‘As a partner of the DofE Charity for almost 12 years, RSM has long supported the development of young people, recognising the value of achieving a DofE Award. The young people they are supporting are the leaders of the future and we are thrilled to be working in partnership with RSM to ensure that even more young people, irrespective of background are given this life-changing opportunity.’
