Law firm announces departure of founding partner

The lawyer who founded Leeds law firm Shulmans four decades ago has announced his departure.

Jeremy Shulman founded the firm in 1981.

During the past 37 years Shulmans has secured a position as a UK top 200 corporate law firm and is recognised as one of the fastest growing full-service corporate law firms in the country.

In 2017 it achieved a record turnover of £14.85m.

From an initial team of three, the firm has grown over the decades and last year celebrated reaching a major recruitment milestone of 200 employees.

This figure now exceeds 220 people all working from within a single-site headquarters at Wellington Place.

Tim Halstead, managing partner, will continue to drive the firm forward following Shulman’s departure at the end of the month.

Speaking of his departure, Shulman said: “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved at Shulmans, and of the team who deliver the highest standard of service for our clients. Our success over the decades is a testament to the outstanding legal talent of our people. I look forward to seeing the firm continue to thrive over the years ahead.”
