People: Law firm expands private client team; CTO appointed at publishing company; and more

Schofield Sweeney has added to its private client team with the recruitment of Sarah Ali.

Ali has joined the team as a solicitor based in Huddersfield, having previously worked and trained at a national law firm based in Leeds.

“I am delighted to welcome Sarah to the team. It has been a busy two years for us, the team has expanded to 18 members and achieved a record turnover of £1.2m in the last year. Sarah is a really strong addition and will be a real asset to the Huddersfield office, said Ashley Iredale, partner.

Ali specialises in a wide range of private client matters including preparing wills and trusts, probate and administration of estates and trusts. She works collaboratively with tax and financial advisors to deliver comprehensive estate planning solutions to clients.

Bingley-based publishing firm Emerald Group has appointed Dr Phill Jones, formerly director of publishing Innovation at Digital Science, to its board as chief technology officer.

Sheffield-based rooftop safety systems specialist Roofco has made an addition to its board of directors.

The company said William Martin’s promotion recognises his achievements since joining the firm in 2011 as a product engineer, most notably tripling product sales.

He said: “I am honoured to become a director of Roofco and have my efforts recognised in this way. We aim to continue to expand our capabilities through new product design and increased resources and I am excited to have this opportunity to help the firm fulfil its potential.”

Managing director John Elmore added: “Will’s ambition, vision and technical ability has propelled Roofco’s success for the last six years and we have no doubt that he is the right person to take the firm forward. He is a welcome addition to our management board.”
