Brewing manufacturer relaunches after being placed in administration

Leeds-based Brewology, a specialist design and manufacturing supplier to the brewing industry which last year went into administration, has relaunched as PD Brew.

Brewology was last year placed in administration following issues with HMRC over disputed Research & Development tax credits and a demand for a £200,000, plus trading bond.

The re-launch secures 22 jobs, along with all customer work in progress and agreements reached with the former Brewology firm.

Paul Jones and Dominic Smith, directors of associate company PD Precision Engineering , are directors of the new firm.

A spokesman for the new company said: “Very unfortunately, Brewology Ltd had to enter into the administration process due to the unresolved tax issues with HMRC. It was impossible for a company of its size to meet with the terms demanded of it.

“However, we are very pleased to announce that the work which was being undertaken and any agreed, for the future, continues under PD Brew Ltd, so customers and suppliers can be assured that all former commitments and agreements will be honoured. We are also delighted that the relaunch also means the jobs of all the employees are secured.  The new business will continue to offer a top class service to brewers looking to invest in growth and expansion for the future.”

PD Brew said it would now concentrate on supplying standard projects including cask and keg washing and filling and associated repeat products. This is in line with a restructuring of the operation at the end of 2017 on the departure of founder David Midgley who formerly ran the bespoke automation projects for Brewology.

The former customer support services will remain, providing spares, planned maintenance and breakdown cover for all Microdat, Gimson, Chadburn, Tusker, CA Neubecker and Brewology machines. A new remote customer support facility will also be introduced from the Leeds base.

Former Brewology director Stephen Midgley will continue to work on new product innovation, including the development of a Robotic Filler to handle both cans and bottles.
