Law firm secures Sheffield Half Marathon Team Challenge victory

Law firm Irwin Mitchell swapped their suits for trainers in the Sheffield Half Marathon and stormed their way to victory, coming first place in the Corporate Team Challenge.

Scores of runners took part in the challenge – a brand new feature of the Asda Foundation Sheffield Half Marathon – in which companies and other organisations compete to be crowned fastest team in the race. TheBusinessDesk.com is this year’s corporate team challenge media partner.

The times of the first three runner’s home in each team are used to calculate the winners.

In a hotly-contested challenge, Irwin Mitchell clocked an impressive average time of 1:31:19 to take first place. Arm stole second place with an average time of 1:36:06 and The SEO Works LTD celebrated third place with an average time of 1:39:30.

The fastest male was Sam Mellor running for Arm. Sam clocked a time of 1:23:53.

Rachel Rutherford, representing Rolls Royce, romped home as the fastest female just four minutes later. Rachel clocked an equally impressive time of 1:27:23. Both the winners were awarded a Polar M430 Watch for their triumphs.

Hettie Barker, Sponsorship and Corporate Executive with Run For All, organisers of the Asda Foundation Sheffield Half Marathon, said: “The Team Challenge is a brand new element we have introduced to both the Sheffield Half & Leeds Half Marathon for 2018. It generates some friendly rivalry between local businesses, sports clubs and organisations and is an opportunity for team building, fundraising, or improving general fitness.”

Next up in the programme is the The Leeds Half Marathon Team Challenge, which will take place on Sunday 13 May. If a 10K is more up your street, Run For All will return to Sheffield in September with a Sheffield 10K corporate challenge!
