Nightclub set to re-open under new operator

A nightclub in Wakefield is to re-open with a new operator at the helm after a 10-year lease was signed.

Christie & Co has completed on the leasehold of the Kookoo Cage, a closed bar, nightclub and events venue on Westgate high street in Wakefield.

The property occupies the ground and first floors of a Grade II end of terrace property.

Catelinn Burdon, an experienced operator in the licensed and hospitality sector across Yorkshire, plans to trade the business as Oscar’s Bar.

Sam Ashton, business agent at Christie & Co, said: “Situated on such a busy licensed circuit and a weekend social scene popular among the locals like Westgate, Wakefield, it is no surprise that this empty unit did not last long on the market. I have no doubt the business will be a successful drinks spot amongst other competitors in the area.

“An affordable food offering could soon be introduced to the business model at a later stage once it becomes more established in months to come.”
