Global digital sports company announces Leeds expansion

A global digital sports content and media company, which has 2,500 staff across 45 offices, is expanding its presence in Leeds by taking 40,000 sq ft of space at White Rose Office Park.

Perform Media, which first launched offices in the city in 2012 at Park Row, has agreed terms on a 15 year lease to occupy Optim on the A6110, a key arterial route into the city centre.

Wayne Cort, global director of property for Perform Media, said: “We are excited to be part of the future of the White Rose Office Park, one of Leeds foremost office locations, and it was clear to us that it was the ideal location for our Leeds HQ building. The White Rose Office Park offered not only the unrivalled connectivity our business demands, but the future transport infrastructure and the prominent building position made it the obvious choice.”

David Aspin, founder of Munroe K, the owner and operator of White Rose Office Park, said: “I’m delighted that Perform Media has decided to join the national and global businesses including HSBC, Capita, O2, WSP, HMRC, Gather & Gather already present on the White Rose office Park.

“Following today’s announcement the White Rose Office Park is now fully occupied we will now be moving forward as revealed at MIPIM with our plans in collaboration with Schroders, Land Securities and Leeds City Council to promote the area of urban regeneration known ICON (International Centre of New Technology). The total area amounts to 74 acres including the existing White Rose Office Park.

“The new station along with this large area of economic regeneration in South Leeds will attract not only new international digital businesses to locate there but will also provide a new area of exciting residential accommodation and two new hotels, a new primary school and a new doctors surgery and A&E unit.

“The new station will be the catalyst for this exciting regeneration providing not only new jobs but also housing all located in a car free environmentally and user-friendly area with a train service straight into Leeds City Centre.”

Roger Marsh, chair of Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, said: “I’m delighted that the Perform Group has decided to grow its presence in the City Region and that the LEP, Leeds City Council and White Rose office Park have been able to work together to support this significant investment. By working in partnership the public and private sector are able to attract innovative international businesses such as Perform Group, which in turn create exciting career opportunities that ensure that the region is able to offer jobs for the world class talent it produces.”

The letting agents representing the White Rose Office Park and Munroe K were CBRE, Jonathan Shires; JLL, Jeff Pearey and Adam Cockroft of Cushman Wakefield.
