Transport and Infrastructure investment: a catalyst for growth

Connecting Yorkshire by rail, road, air and sea is crucial to how region’s economy prospers and continues to attract inward investment.

A number of the region’s key businesses will join TheBusinessDesk.com‘s Transport and Infrastructure breakfast seminar on Wednesday 16 May to discuss key transport and infrastructure developments aimed at ensuring that Yorkshire is well connected across the region and beyond.

The session will explore how investment in transport and infrastructure is a catalyst for further development and growth in housing and commercial schemes for the benefit of our economy.

Also on the agenda for the morning will be what is working and what needs to be improved across transport and infrastructure so that businesses have good and quick access to supply chains, and customers; as well as providing the right connectivity for Yorkshire’s businesses to trade internationally.

Hosted by Kayley Worsley, TheBusinessDesk.com‘s Yorkshire editor, panelists for this breakfast seminar will be:

  • David Aspin. Owner of developer Munroe K, which has recently set out plans for a multi-million-pound commercial and residential scheme in Leeds which will include a new railway station at its centre.
  • Chris Harcombe. Aviation development director at Doncaster Sheffield Airport. The hub recently launched its vision and masterplan outlining the expected growth over the next twenty years and a broader Vision for how the site can stimulate economic growth of £3.2bn GVA a year by 2048 and create 73,000 new jobs.
  • Allison Page. Senior infrastructure partner and the office managing partner of DLA Piper in Leeds.  Allison has specialised in major transport, infrastructure projects and other PPP projects for over 20 years, and has particular expertise advising on major transport projects.

  • Martin Farrington. Director of city development at Leeds City Council.
  • Adrian Kemp. Development director at WSP. Adrian is responsible for the firm’s focus on how infrastructure acts as a catalyst for growth through inward investment, human capital and a better standard of living.

This free event, supported by DLA Piper and WSP, will open for networking at 7.30am. Join us for this insightful and important debate to ensure that the investment across the region allows it to maximise its potential.
