Law firm announces £78.9m fee income

A law firm which has expanded in Sheffield and Leeds in the last year has announced a record fee income of £78.9m.

Freeths LLP said it had been another year of continued growth with its fee income rising 9.5% increase since last year.

Over the past year staff numbers have increased across all 12 offices, going from 784 to 844. The firm’s Sheffield office has seen significant growth, with a move to new premises in St Paul’s Place to accommodate the growing legal teams.

There was also several senior hires including Partner James Berry, Senior Associate Mark Gudgeon and Associate Ciaran Dearden, who all joined the Dispute Resolution team.

In the Leeds office there was a 35% increase in staff numbers and a number of senior hires including Kim Jones as Pensions Director, Nigel Bolton as Pensions Partner, Andy Francey as Corporate Partner and Emma Brooksbank as Immigration partner.

Freeths have had a presence in the majority of the main cities across the UK for many years and continue to grow their client base across Yorkshire

John May, managing partner of Freeths in Leeds and Sheffield, saidd: “We are very proud that we have continued to grow organically and attract high calibre lawyers. The financial results are testament to the work our teams put in throughout the year and we recognise this wouldn’t be achievable without everyone’s valuable input, so all staff will be rewarded with a bonus payment amounting to 7% of salaries.”
