Red Arrow lights up target after agreeing acquisition

BLE Lighting & Power

An emergency lighting business has been bought after being deemed to be non-core by its West Midlands-based owner, Lowe and Fletcher.

BLE Lighting & Power, a £3m-turnover business based in Eckington, South Yorkshire, has been bought for an undisclosed sum by Red Arrow Trading. Red Arrow imports and distributes products to electrical wholesalers from its 100,000 sq ft warehouse in Sheffield.

Lowe & Fletcher, which has annual sales of more than £75m from its locking systems and fire safety and security businesses, had decided to sell BLE Lighting and Power.

It has “a bright future ahead as a core part of an ambitious group”, said Giles Birt, Lowe & Fletcher’s group finance director.

He added: “We are delighted to have found a good home for BLE Lighting & Power and wish Red Arrow every success with their enlarged business.”

Cattaneo, the Birmingham-based corporate finance advisory business, advised Lowe & Fletcher on the sale.

Martyn Pilley, who led the Cattaneo team, said: “The close proximity of the two business was identified as a significant factor at an early stage in the sale process and we are delighted that the proposition was compelling to all involved and so made for a logical deal.”

John Heaton and Jordan Hollingsworth of Higgs & Sons provided legal advice to Lowe & Fletcher.
