Richard Essery is the managing director of Harrison Spinks Components.

Where do you live/where are you from?

I now live in Tadcaster, which is handy as it is just a matter of miles from our farm but I come from Cardiff.

What is your favourite place to visit in Yorkshire and why?

My favourite place to visit in Yorkshire is York, the city has amazing history, is always full of friendly people, has great places to eat and lovely old pubs for socialising, always with great atmosphere.

What is still on your “to do” list in the region? 

Cycling across the Yorkshire Dales is still on my list of things to do in Yorkshire as I am a big fan of cycling.

 What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had?

The most memorable meal I have eaten was Haddock and Chips at the Sun Inn near our farm, it was the first restaurant I went to when I started at Harrison Spinks.

 What is your most Yorkshire trait?

I have a flat cap.

Favourite piece of trivia about the region.

My favourite trivia about the region is if Yorkshire was a country it would have come 14th in the 2016 Rio Olympics medal table.

What/who is your favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire?

My favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire would be Guy Fawkes.

Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?

The worst thing about Yorkshire is definitely the weather.

What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire (or other UK regions) if you could?

I’d steal the West Coast Line from Wales.

What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?

Rugby League because it’s not Union.
