Investment bank founder to speak at upcoming Rainmaker Awards

The founder of independent investment bank Zeus Capital with more than 30 years’ experience of corporate activity is to speak at TheBusinessDesk.com’s upcoming Yorkshire Rainmakers Awards.

Richard Hughes has been involved with many high profile flotations, capital raisings, mergers and acquisitions for both public and private companies. He was at the heart of the IPO revival in 2013 and 2014, and has advised on high profile listings for boohoo.com, Purplebricks and JTC amongst others.

Under Hughes’ leadership, Zeus Capital has become the leading adviser to companies looking to IPO on AIM. The company has raised more than £3.6bn on London’s junior market in the last four years, acting on behalf of some of the UK’s most innovative entrepreneurs.

In addition, Hughes was a founding shareholder and director of boohoo.com and Crawford Healthcare, amongst numerous other private companies. He is also a director of Maggie’s, a leading cancer charity.

Hughes will take to the stage at the awards ceremony, to be held on the afternoon of Friday July 13, to share insights on his career and deal involvement. The Rainmakers Awards ceremony will celebrate the Yorkshire deals community and the work they carry out.

Tickets for the prestigious event, to be held at The Queens, are now on sale and further details are available online. This year, after-party drinks will be served at The Alchemist on Greek Street. The charity sponsor is NSPCC.

The Rainmakers is different because the winners are voted on by the corporate finance community themselves in a one firm, one vote system.

This year’s shortlist  was drawn up after a judging day involving four leading figures who have in depth knowledge of the corporate finance and deals sector in the region, including former EY managing partner Stuart Watson, NED and former finance director at Callcredit Liz Richards, former Deloitte managing partner Martin Jenkins and founding partner of Shulmans, Jeremy Shulman.
