Developer secures planning to convert listed city centre building

Property investment firm Westcourt Group has been given planning permission for a residential development within a listed Leeds city centre building.

The planning will see Westcourt convert the upper sections of 121 Kirkgate into studio apartments.

Tim Hodgson, director of Westcout, said: “Westcourt has an excellent track record for sensitively restoring and converting listed buildings, and this will be no exception. As with many listed buildings, there was every chance that it could have fallen into disrepair, instead it will be reinvented and become a beautiful and utilised residential space in one of the most sought after locations in the city – just minutes walk from bars and shops.”

Westcourt worked with Enjoy Design and planning consultant Killian Gallagher of LHL Group York.

It also received advice from Jonathan Morgan at Morgans City Living on the plans for 121 Kirkgate’s layout.

In previous years Westcourt Group has been involved with the building of a number of residential schemes both new build and renovations. Projects have included the refurbishment of an old mill into 16 apartments, and an extensive six month restoration project on Grade II listed 18 Park Row, Leeds, (formally Abtech House) and now renamed Kenneth Hodgson House in memory of Kenneth Hodgson, the late father of Tim Hodgson.
