Owners praise converted chapel’s success as it reaches capacity

A converted chapel in Leeds, which recently featured on the BBC, is now fully let after a string of tenants signed up to the building.

Digital agency Punch Creative has filled its Pudsey-based premises after welcoming seven businesses into its converted studio development.

Punch Creative bought the 8000 sq m premises in 2016.

Originally a largely-unlet space, the studios are now home to varied businesses which employ 36 people from throughout the region.

Tenants now include one of the UK’s fastest growing hotel organisations The Splendid Hospitality Group, and PE Partners – a business that offers engaging sports programmes to schools in Leeds.

Other tenants include Barksy – a video production company that expanded its facilities in 2016, building a TV studio with control room, edit suite, and client viewing facilities. Barksy has since hosted notable clients such as MTV in the chapel and collaborates with Punch on a variety of projects.

Richard Lowes, creative director at Punch Creative, said: “We’re delighted to have the Chapel full of local businesses, many of whom we collaborate with. It’s a really buoyant reflection on the local economy and a positive place to work.

“All the Punch team enjoy working in a space that’s truly different from your standard office. Not only does it boast wonderful architecture and great character, but it also has a unique place in local history, as was made evident when we were featured on Look North recently.

“When we first discovered The Chapel, we knew it would be a great creative space and we’ve since invested in making it into a desirable residence for other companies to come and join us, which has clearly paid off.”
