Lettings success for serviced office centre

A SERVICED office centre which launched in Leeds earlier this year is more than 70% let after a series of tenants signed up to occupy suites within the 9,500 sq ft site.

Airedale Business Centre on Kirkstall Road was created following a two year £500,000 investment by entrepreneur Martyn Duffield and his sons Adam and Simon, who jointly own the building which was once a bicycle factory.

Market research agency Fieldwork Light is relocating from its base in Horsforth and opening a viewing facility called Mirror Mirror Studios within an 1800 sq ft suite at the centre.

“We are a growing business that needs to have smart, modern offices close to the city centre which are equipped with all the latest technology, and offer us the flexibility to expand in the future,” said Jacqui Caunter of Mirror Mirror.

An arts and crafts business, a public relations consultancy, a recruitment agency, a drinks distributor, a hotel interior design consultancy, a Swiss-owned TV technology company and an online greeting card business have also taken space at the site since its launch.

This includes tenants Chatter, an HR communications agency that helps businesses to build and manage their employer reputation.

Anne Staton, head of Leeds City Council’s business investment team, said: “The success of Airedale House Business Centre, alongside rapid take up at city centre developments such as 10 South Parade, clearly demonstrate there is demand in the market for high quality refurbished offices and serviced office accommodation.

“Investing in the right kind of product can bring rapid returns, bringing new business and employment to the city.”

Originally built in the 1800s, Airedale House was formerly the Leeds factory for bicycle company Raleigh.
