Weekender: BID launches monthly food event for city centre

Following the success of Dine Sheffield, Sheffield BID is launching a monthly food event which will see diners enjoy exclusive experiences, deals and events at some of the city’s most popular restaurants.

Dine & Discover, part of the BID’s Alive After Five strategy, will showcase a different eatery from Sheffield city centre’s flourishing dining scene each month.

Inspired by Dine Sheffield, the BID’s bi-annual event celebrating dining in Sheffield, Dine & Discover will help diners discover hidden gems from the city centre restaurant scene all year round, whether that be new openings or some of the city’s best kept secrets.

Dine & Discover will feature one city centre restaurant every month, which will play host to a one-off event to celebrate its unique food offer.

Each event will be bespoke to the restaurant and will offer diners the opportunity to try new food and drink, and get closer to the action through cocktail masterclasses, food and drinks tasting, or tailored set menus.

Throughout the month, venues will also offer an exclusive deal to Dine & Discover diners, giving foodies the opportunity to sample the restaurants’ delights without breaking the bank.

Diane Jarvis, Sheffield BID manager, said: “Following the success of our first two Dine Sheffield events, we know the people of Sheffield have a real appetite for getting out there and discovering the city’s restaurant scene.

“Dine & Discover will allow the public to try a restaurant that haven’t visited before, or try something different at one of their favourite spots in the city. We hope Dine & Discover gives Sheffield’s dining scene a boost, and encourages more people to travel into the city centre for a meal out.”

It is hoped Dine & Discover will build on the success of Dine Sheffield, which is estimated to have brought more than £110,000 to the city’s economy during March.

The fortnight of food offers saw 41 restaurants offer more than 50 offers to diners in Sheffield, with more than 3000 diners taking part.

Dine Sheffield is part of the BID’s Alive After Five strategy, which aims to boost Sheffield’s early evening economy through promoting a joint offer of food and drink, shopping and entertainment in the city centre to increase footfall and spending after 5pm.

The first Dine & Discover restaurant will be Craft and Dough on Campo Lane, which will be offering customers a cheeseboard, meat plate or vegan option, along with a garlic tear and share and a bottle of wine for £14 throughout July.
