People: Law firm adds to commercial property team; New recruit for Carter Towler; and more

Caitlin Macnamara has joined Hull and East Yorkshire law firm Williamsons as a commercial property solicitor at its Beverley office.

Macnamara will work for landlords and tenants on commercial leases while she also has experience in residential plot sales and purchases and wills and probate.

Williamsons director Bill Waddington said: “Caitlin has specialist and all-round skills and is a very good addition to our Beverley team.

“We serve the region in all main fields of law and we are very well set-up for the lively commercial property market.”

Macnamara gained a Bachelor’s degree in history and a Master’s degree in the history of art from the University of Warwick before being awarded a graduate diploma from BPP University Law School in 2015 and moving on to the University of Law.

Williamsons Solicitors has its head office in Hull with branches in Beverley, Bridlington and Driffield.

Leeds-based Carter Towler has appointed a new valuation surveyor to support its expanding professional services team.

Charlie Armour began his career with Fleurets in London where he gained extensive experience in the leisure and hospitality sectors.

Carter Towler’s head of professional services Chris Green, said: “We are delighted that we have managed to tempt Charlie to join us here in Yorkshire. He has made a very promising start to his property career and is a fantastic addition to our team.

“Charlie has a firm understanding of the wider commercial property market and in the last three years he has worked on a large number of deals and professional instructions involving cinemas, hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars.

“The leisure and hospitality sectors are growth areas for Carter Towler and he will be able to provide some very pertinent additional valuation expertise. Charlie is extremely keen to expand is wider commercial property knowledge.”

Harrogate law firm McCormicks Solicitors has strengthened its corporate and commercial team with the appointment of Emily Steed.

Steed joins the practice from a regional North Yorkshire firm and will assist partner Jon Healey in providing corporate and commercial services to clients.

She graduated from Durham University before completing the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in York and qualifying in March 2017.

She has experience in a wide range of matters, including the sale and purchase of businesses, advising on business structure and negotiating commercial contracts. Emily also has a keen interest in IP law and regularly deals with trademark applications and assignments.

Healey said: “Emily is a welcome addition to a busy department working with a range of businesses in Harrogate and across Yorkshire and her experience makes her an asset to the team.”
