Welding firm launches bespoke division
Leeds Welding Company (LWC) has launched a new division to enter into the agricultural marketplace.
LWC, which has an £11m annual turnover, has launched LWC Agricultural Products and has ambitious plans for the new division to create £1m of sales in its first year by designing, manufacturing and delivering a new range of agricultural products.
It has been set up facilitate growth into a new market and investment has been made in a new team to deliver the new products including a new range of tractor and telehandler attachments.
Managing director, Richard Eaglen, said: “This is a very exciting time for the business. We’ve identified a real opportunity for growth and LWC Agricultural products, as Part of the LWC Group, have access to the best manufacturing technology in the world, from high speed automated laser cutting to Robotic Welding.
“We’ve set a bold target of £3m worth of sales for this division by the end of the third year, and we are already seeing signs that we’ll achieve £1m by the end of year one.
“We have such a diverse city here in Leeds which includes many large farming businesses located in the beautiful surrounding countryside. We are proud to be supporting farmers with quality products, manufactured right here in the heart of the city.
“Farming is hard on machinery, with our ability to design and manufacture we can offer solutions that are cost effective, and quality products that are built to withstand the rigors of farm life.”
Newly appointed sales manager, Will Bedford, added: “I grew up on a farm, but spent my career to date in the steel industry. This background gives me an in depth understanding of the agricultural industry and has really helped to get this project off the ground.
“We are pleased to report that sales are increasing on a weekly basis. Farming has always played a big part in my life and this is a great way for me to use my skills to contribute to the industry.”
The new team also includes a design engineer, a product development engineer, factory foreman as well as several production workers.
