More than 1,200 bottles of gin sold as part of winding up of collapsed firm

More than 1,200 bottles of gin have been auctioned as part of the administration of Keighley-based Gin Festival Ltd, which fell into administration last month.

Insolvency practitioners Julian Pitts and Nick Reed from Begbies Traynor were appointed as administrators to Gin Festival Limited and put the items up for sale through auction house Eddisons CJM.

The online auction of stock, which ended last night, included more than 320 lots. As well as the 1,200 gins and Schweppes drinks, there was also a host of outside bar equipment for sale.

Gin Festival was trading as GinFestival.com and organised and managed a series of craft gin festivals around the UK. When it collapsed on July 5, its entire programme of 20 events planned for the coming months were cancelled and 27 jobs were lost.

Despite Begbies Traynor marketing the company in the build up to the appointment, with the aim of finding a buyer, no offers were made and a closure administration took immediate effect
