Media group snapped up by Racing Post

Leeds-based ICS Media Group, a multimedia content provider and digital market agency specialising in sports and gaming, has been acquired by the Racing Post.

The purchase of ICS Media Group, which employs 60 people and whose clients include major bookmakers, leading publishers, radio stations and mobile networks across the world, broadens Racing Post’s B2B operation, extends its content offering and continues its diversification beyond racing.

The acquisition will not affect either business operationally. ICS will continue to operate from its Leeds office with its existing four directors, Ian Holding, Cheryl Westerman, Matt Roche and Charlotte Green, handling the day-to-day operations.

Ian Holding, who founded the company in 2002 with Cheryl Westerman, said: “We’re incredibly excited to embark on this partnership and truly believe Racing Post will help us build on what ICS has achieved so far in a number of disciplines. The Racing Post team share our vision, passion and values and we are excited by the many opportunities that lie ahead both in the UK and overseas.”

Alan Byrne, Racing Post’s chief executive and editor-in-chief, added: “We are really looking forward to working with the talented team at ICS. We have admired their work for a long time and are delighted to be joining forces with them. We believe that combining the strengths of the two companies will allow us to offer our customers a range of first-rate products and services.”

Daniel McCormack, partner at law firm Lupton Fawcett, who advised on the deal, said:  “The shareholders have built ICS into an incredible business over the years and it’s great the deal with Racing Post has completed. I’m really pleased the Lupton Fawcett team has been able to support them through the process.”

ICS was also supported by accountants, Henton & Co.
