Plans deferred for new homes development in East Yorkshire

A planning application for a new housing development in East Yorkshire has been deferred.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council received proposals for the addition of 225 new homes on land South East of Groves Farm in Pocklington.

The application, submitted by Linden Limited, JG Hatcliffe Associates Ltd and HS Thirsk, went before the council’s planning committee on 13 September, where it was recommended for deferral.

These proposals, which already have outline planning permission, are the third phase of a larger POC-F housing allocation site.

The first phase, approved in May 2013, saw the construction of 99 new homes and a doctors surgery. The second phase of 222 new homes was approved in August 2014 and construction is now underway.

Commenting on the most recent planning application, Pocklington Town Council said: “The council is pleased to see a number of two bed properties being built that will come to the housing market.

“However it is disappointed that there are no single storey market housing within the mix. The only single storey dwellings are the ground floor one bed flats, which are part of the affordable housing obligation.”

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s response also states that “the application is recommended for deferral to secure affordable housing and open space contributions through a Section 106 legal agreement.”

The proposals are now undergoing further consultation with the applicants regarding the provision of single storey homes.
