Tapas restaurant closes its doors

A popular tapas restaurant in Leeds has closed suddenly, with the Trinity Leeds unit now standing empty.

Pintura Kitchen and Bar, which opened in March 2015 and ran cookery sessions as well as serving Spanish food, has closed its doors. It has four-storeys, the lowest of which is was run as a gin bar.

The venue, Basque-style tapas restaurant, is in the entrance of Trinity Leeds.

Pintura was originally part of the bar and restaurant company Leelex, which also owns Cielo Blanco, Neon Cactus, Jake’s Bar and Oporto.

The firm – set up by entrepreneur Ged Feltham in 2000 – was placed in administration and Cielo Blanco in Trinity Leeds closed, but it is unknown whether Pintura was still part of the company.

KPMG have been appointed administrators of  that Pintura. Other Leelex businesses Oporto, Neon Catus and Jake’s Bar, are still trading.
