University takes full ownership of campus college for £9.8m

The University of York has become the sole owner of its 622-bed Constantine College for a net sale price of £9.8m.

The College is one of three built by the University on Campus East and owned, until recently, in equal shares by the Evans Property Group and the University.

The deal saw the University acquire Evans’ 50% stake.

Many campus buildings across the UK are financed through third-party backing and three of York’s colleges were financed in this way through a joint venture with the Evans Property Group.

Constantine College opened in September 2014, and is the University of York’s newest college.

Jeremy Lindley, University’s finance director, said: “The University will continue to work with Evans in its plan to transfer its 50% share of the two other Colleges on Campus East, namely Langwith and Goodricke.”
