Six employees complete MBO of tech firm

Six team members at a tech firm which operates from offices in Leeds, Scarborough and Hull have completed a management buyout of the business.

Care Micro Systems has confirmed the MBO of the company, which last year reported a turnover of £750,000. Former managing director Mike Shingler, who had been running the IT service and support company since 1992, has now retired.

Six members of the support team have seized the opportunity to take over the business they had already been running for a couple of years.

Shingler said: “I informed the staff some time ago of my intentions to retire and therefore was looking to sell the company. However, some of the staff wished to buy the business themselves, which would give our clients throughout the UK secured continuity.”

New managing director, Simon Robson, said he was looking forward to improving the good level of support and service they have grown to be known for, whilst developing employee skills to keep up with an ever changing sector.

Robson said: “We were famously known for having the big building on Columbus Ravine in Scarborough with the large reflective windows.

“However, by making continued efficiencies in the way we support our clients, it became apparent we needed to move to more suitable premises. We relocated our head office to Cayley Court on the Eastfield Industrial Estate in April 2017. It also made perfect sense to become the onsite support for the businesses located there as we already supplied and supported the internet connection to the managed building complex. The new offices are more accessible to businesses outside of the centre of Scarborough and make it easier to get to our satellite sites.”

With clients varying from small to medium businesses, government councils and even universities, the company has expanded recently by obtaining engineers offices in Leeds and Hull to better service their clients in the West Yorkshire and Humber regions as well as the Yorkshire coast.

The new management are keen promote it is “business as usual” whilst they strive to improve the high level of support and service their valued clients have come to expect.
