Go ahead for manufacturer’s new HQ

Plans for new 19,202 sq m headquarters for a Kirklees-based manufacturer have been given the go ahead, giving the firm further growth opportunities.

Aflex Hose is a hose manufacturer that currently operates from four sites in Calderdale and this development permits the consolidation of its operations into one site in Kirklees. The industrial development will be built on land adjacent to Bradley Business Park, near Huddersfield.

GVA has secured full planning permission on behalf of Aflex Hose. The new development will house its existing 280 employees and allow the business to continue to grow and meet its ambition to employ 500 people over the next decade.

Aflex Hose is committed to employing staff from the local area and working with local schools and colleges to create of a number of high skilled jobs and apprentice roles for local people.

Jeremy Hudson, managing director at Aflex Hose, said: “This is an exciting time for the business, which now has the opportunity to relocate to a state of the art, purpose-built site, allowing the team to become more productive and continue to grow.”

GVA is also the project manager for the new scheme and acting as industrial agent for the purchase of the land from Kirklees Council. Construction is anticipated to commence in Q1 2019 with the site operational in 2020.

The application was supported by architects Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher, landscape architects Re-form, transport, flood, drainage and structural specialists Curtins, noise and air quality specialists REC, biodiversity and tree specialists Quants and lighting specialists Troup Bywater + Anders. The project also received legal advice from Pinsent Masons.
